Trekking along

A month in, and I still feel a bit displaced. I’m considering starting a new blog, kind of hiding it away in the interwebs amongst the thousands of other blogs where people vent and brood… Only because even I’m starting to bum myself out!

My hobbies have been something of a lifesaver as of late. I’ve been kind of in a crafting overdrive- mostly because I feel like I need to keep busy so I don’t feel so alone. I miss my cat and my family D: .

I redressed Remy. She’s wearing a plastic fashion dress, and shoes, socks, headband, and necklace from a Daiso Ely chan fashion pack (so worth the $1.50 and tax). These shoes fit Remy really well, so I’m definitely going to pick up some more.

I also picked up a coloring book, color pencils, and cotton yarn (crocheted into a blanket). I really shouldn’t be spending money, but I tend to fall victim to retail therapy. I actually kind of fell of the wagon, and made a big purchase (nooOoooOo). … Yup. I have a new girl.

XD I’m actually having Marina and Finley shipped to me next week. I’m hoping my room will be more homey, and less lonely with my Blythes hanging out. I also decided to adopt a second hand Blythe from a Facebook group. I have big plans for this girl! And she’s to be my gift to myself – for hanging in there, for doing the best I can, and her sunny hair makes me happy.

Not my photo (from blythedoll.com).

I saw her on a doll adoption group, and I have been keeping an eye out for a stock girl to send away for customization in the future. I even have an idea for a name and character for her! ^^

Hopefully, I’ll start posting more often.

Anyway, stay positive and happy Monday!

Back to reality

Vacations always seem so very short. I took a peek at my work email, and I kind of know what to expect when I get back to the office – hundreds of emails, paperwork to follow up with, and the same old 9 to 5 doldrums. /all the sad emoticons in the world.

I did a bit of damage in sunny California, and I wanted to share my Anime Expo and California haul (dropped mad dollars at the Japanese dollar store, lol).

Anime Expo 2015 haul

I purchased these goods from Anime Expo 2015.  From left to right, we have 2 rement blind boxes, a Madoka Kaname Yukata version Nendoroid, a few Danboards, and a Jetoy Choo Choo coloring book! The Danbos and the Nendo are pretty freaking enchanting. If I can find some nendos of anime characters I really like, I may pick up a few more. So far, my nendoroid wishlist includes:

Kuma from Persona

Hozuki from Hozuki no Reiatsu

I’m so on the fence about the nendoroid’s interchangeable pieces. I like how each figure comes with extra parts to change the facial expression and the arms and accessories… but they also seem a bit inconvenient in that I worry about losing the tiny pieces.

My nendoroid!

The danboards are perfect the way they are. Never change, Danbo.

And here is the rest of my haul!

Daiso and Miscellaneous haul

Everything but the crochet book and the coloring book in the back were purchased from Daiso (… several Daisos). ^^ Not in any particular order, but the haul includes: 2 Elly chan school girl fashion packs, 4 skeins of yarn, some kitty stationary, some leatherworking kits, beads, false lashes that I will use for blythe lashes, crochet hooks, a cat pencil case, and some key chain making goods.

Daiso Elly chan fashion pack haul!

Recently, I begged my SO to go to Daiso to pick up some doll clothes for me (I actually said “GET THEE TO DAISO. NAO! PLZ!”). Daiso is a Japanese 99 cents store (more like $1.50 and up store) that has a few stores in the United States. I don’t really have access to one near me, and when I saw a youtube video of a doll collector showing off her own haul of these little outfits, I flipped out and was overcome with this sense of urgency and need (my SO is a good sport).

Daiso has these dolls that are Licca chan knock-offs called Elly chan. They sell these fashion packs for the Elly chan doll for $1.50 each. I was actually hoping they would carry the school girl uniforms (I believe there are up to 3 different versions), but no luck. I did however get:

Daiso Elly Chan clothes

So far I’ve only opened up 3 of the outfits. I have to say, I’m a little sad about how badly the clothes are finished – there is a ton of threads hanging out and they don’t fit well on my EAH dolls. BUT, they were only $1.50 each. The clothes have velcro on the back to keep them on the doll.

Yukata blondie

I think Mattel would make an insane amount of money going this route, and selling fashion packs for their Ever After High dolls. I definitely recommend picking these up if any of the fashion packs catch your eye. I know there isn’t much out there in the ways of Ever After High doll outfits (short of buying a whole new doll and swapping clothes), and they’re only $1.50 each.

Blondie Lockes and Cupid

I’m not sure if I’ll put these clothes on my new Blythe – I’m afraid that these clothes might stain her body. I may try giving these clothes a good soak in vinegar water, and a light washing to see if any dye runs from the fabric before considering dressing my new doll in these outfits.
