A MINIJIJO Clothing Haul!

Let me paint a word picture, if you will.

Finding 1/6 scale boy clothes is difficult, especially if the body is on the petite side. There are way more options on Etsy and eBay for girl doll clothes, and even the pickings for tomboyish girl’s clothes or unisex clothes are slim. Blythe doll clothes are actually a bit too big for the Pure Neemo Flection XS body, which can look cute for a girl doll if you’re going for the slightly oversized look. I was specifically going for this look:

I was on a mission – a mission to find a red and black checkered shirt and a pair of jeans that wouldn’t look like a child was wearing his dad’s pajamas… if his dad happened to be a lumberjack… or the Brawny man.

Exhibit A: The Brawny Man

I actually reached out to Jijo of MINIJIJO, because I saw that the seller had sold a shirt like this in the past. I was super excited, because I love the MINIJIJO items I have already and I felt confident that the designer would be able to fulfill my custom request. While I was at it, i also ordered a few other things – a set of five socks and a multicolored star dress that I had favorited a while ago.

The jeans I purchased in an Azone facebook group for super cheap! ^^

So happy with how he’s coming out! I have a wig coming in the mail, and it should get to me by Monday. I’m actually not entirely sure how much resemblance he’ll bear to Marshall Lee, but I think this Azone/Obitsu hybrid is pretty adorable so far. Maybe this boy doll looks a bit too nice to be a bad boy like Marshall? I tried giving him a smirk, but I think the issue is with the eyebrows being too good-natured.

I’m finding myself addicted to the look of Azone dolls. I even kind of want to reroot my next obitsu head! When my Marshall Lee doll is complete, and I still enjoy having him, the next Azone/Obitsu hybrid I make will be based on Marcelline the Vampire Queen or Fionna Human.

^^ I also took this chance to redress Marina. I had her in my Miema Dollhouse outfit for a while, and I wanted to take the opportunity to explore her style. :3 I think I was very successful.

Number 1 – I finally found something to pair those glittery gold boots with!!!!!!!!

Number 2 – Excuse me while I express how pleased I am. Um. how adorable? Please and thank you.

I’m really happy with how the look came together. I think Marina’s personal style is on the bright and funky side. Very visual, and very fun.

I feel like I was very active with dolly stuff this weekend :D, and that makes me pretty happy.

I hope everyone has a restful weekend!

A MINIJIJO is happening on my dolly shelf!

XD The etsy store name MINIJIJO makes me giggle (on the inside). “Jijou” means situation/circumstance in Japanese, so when I hear the name MINIJIJO, i immediately think “Mini situation”.

This weekend, my girls were redressed in some pieces I recently purchased from the etsy store MINIJIJO (minus Bryn, because I didn’t purchase anything middie sized this time around, and minus Marina because she was already wearing one of the new dresses). I was in serious need of some separates, so I had purchased a few tutu skirts.

I’m pretty satisfied with how Finley and Rosaline are looking. I still don’t think the blue dress is quite Marina’s style – I get the sense that the dress is a bit too old-fashioned/prim for her… and I’m not even sure WHAT Rory is thinking. Bryn actually looks pretty cute in the crocheted dress I put on her.

And here is Marina modeling a scarf I finished yesterday. It’s quite chunky because I doubled up on the yarn (one strand is mustard yellow and the other is an olive green), and used a really fun and poofy stitch ^^, I was so happy that I managed to figure out what to do with that size particular yarn. The yarn is really soft, but also very thin, and kind of hard to work with. I was wondering what on earth I would do with the yarn, and settled on trying to make a scarf. I have four skeins of this type of yarn, and I will probably make a ton of dolly scarves with them!

MiniJijo haul and completed crochet goods

I’m still struggling to find a dress or outfit that looks made for Marina. I still think she looked best in that blue and white checkered dress with the super poofy skirt that I first put her in, because of the silhouette of the dress (tight fitted bodice with a full skirt kind of reminds me of mermaids, or maybe Ariel?). I was able to pick up my package that I ordered from MINIJIJO, as it was sitting in the post office for about a week, and it included a light blue dress I thought might look cute on Marina.
IMG_3560I kind of feel like it misses the mark… the dress itself is cute though!

And here is the rest of my haul:

IMG_3558I ordered five tutus and two long sleeved dresses ^^. That rainbow deer dress is kind of amazing. All in all, I’m happy with my order from MINIJIJO, as I was in desperate need of separates. The tutus will be used as skirts, as well as underskirts (? … not sure what they’re called, but they will be giving my dresses some volume 😀 ), and long sleeved dresses are perfect for the fall.

I actually have my eye on a few other things in the store. The prices are attractive, and the dresses I purchased are well made, so I will definitely be a return customer.

Here’s my MINIJIJO wishlist:

The main things that my current dolly wardrobe are missing are darker colors (I have an irrational fear of staining), middie clothes, and separates! And weirdly enough, only two of my girls have underwear… so I guess I’m missing dolly undies.

I’ve been trying to curb my doll-related purchases in order to save up for Blythe Con, but I’m not sure how successful I’ve been. My yarn buying has also been kind of out of control this past month >_<. I have a few long-term projects lined up (a bag with blythe sized pockets for toting the girls and my purchases around at Blythe Con, a top for me, and some World of Warcraft related amigurumi), and I’ve also finished a few quick projects.

Tomorrow, I start the Blythe carry bag! >_< The projects that take up a ton of time always feel like such a marathon to me. I loathe leaving things unfinished, but with big projects I’m unable to crochet for more than a couple of hours at a time. Even though I may take a physical break from crocheting, my brain is still thinking of all the stitches that need to be done. .Hopefully 3 weeks is enough time for me to get it done!
