From left to right: Finley, Reese, Marina, Rory, and Elowyn

I have a bit of a thing for my girls in Plastic Fashion dresses. Somewhere down the line, I decided that with each new girl I get, I would purchase a dress just for her. For four out of five of my current girls, it has been a Plastic Fashion dress (I actually purchased a Button Arcade dress when I got Reese). I’m particularly partial to my dresses that have the Peter Pan collars.

The sewing on these dresses is impeccable, and the lines are really clean. The prints and color combinations are very playful, and the silhouettes are really cute. The dresses have tiny metal snap closures. I hope to one day snag a long sleeve dress, that has a collar, and has either a fuller skirt, or a smock style dress shape. The dress also looks quite cute on a licca body (which Rory is currently on) or a pure neemo flexion xs body.

^^ My favorite dress is a tie between the one Finley is wearing and the one Elowyn is wearing. I was inspired to dress my girls in Plastic Fashion this week, because my friend recently purchased her first PF dress. My girls look so cute in their kind of matchy dresses (matchy but not really matchy because the colors and shapes are varied, but the style/feel of the dresses are similar). This photo also shows my current Blythe collection.

It’s weird… but when I have them all lined up like this or I’m doing a big group photo, I feel oddly satisfied with my collection! I guess because balancing five dolls for one photo takes some work, and I’m not sure I would be able to do it for more than five (that table barely fit all my girls. Maybe that means I need a bigger table).

A MINIJIJO is happening on my dolly shelf!

XD The etsy store name MINIJIJO makes me giggle (on the inside). “Jijou” means situation/circumstance in Japanese, so when I hear the name MINIJIJO, i immediately think “Mini situation”.

This weekend, my girls were redressed in some pieces I recently purchased from the etsy store MINIJIJO (minus Bryn, because I didn’t purchase anything middie sized this time around, and minus Marina because she was already wearing one of the new dresses). I was in serious need of some separates, so I had purchased a few tutu skirts.

I’m pretty satisfied with how Finley and Rosaline are looking. I still don’t think the blue dress is quite Marina’s style – I get the sense that the dress is a bit too old-fashioned/prim for her… and I’m not even sure WHAT Rory is thinking. Bryn actually looks pretty cute in the crocheted dress I put on her.

And here is Marina modeling a scarf I finished yesterday. It’s quite chunky because I doubled up on the yarn (one strand is mustard yellow and the other is an olive green), and used a really fun and poofy stitch ^^, I was so happy that I managed to figure out what to do with that size particular yarn. The yarn is really soft, but also very thin, and kind of hard to work with. I was wondering what on earth I would do with the yarn, and settled on trying to make a scarf. I have four skeins of this type of yarn, and I will probably make a ton of dolly scarves with them!

Playing with Miniatures

I decided to update my dolly shelf today. I’ve accumulated some miniature items from Michaels over the past year that have just been sitting in a box. I’m not yet up for creating an entire room, since I’m lacking most of the materials I think I would need. I do plan on moving within a year, and I also expect moving something as delicate as a Blythe room might be problematic. SO! My girls will have to make due with their dolly shelf ^^.

Currently, my blythes live on one of the top shelves that are built into the wall of my room. I lined the shelf with some contact paper, and I taped up some mini frames onto the wall. I’ve also been meaning to draw something on the mini easel, so I’m glad I got around to doing that today.

😀 It’s my cat!

I also found something very exciting in my basement!

IMG_3391It’s a jewelry box that plays music and it looks like an armoire! I remember seeing this around back when I was a little kid, and since it wasn’t in use, I asked my mom if I could have it. It now currently houses my own jewelry and trinkets, and is sitting on the doll shelf. I love how to scale it is, and for something that’s nearly 25 years old, it’s in really good condition… and now it is MINE :D. No backsies, mom.

Lastly, my sample Moo cards came in today! They almost look like trading cards.

IMG_3392

I made sample Moo business cards using their promotion – you can order a sample of 10 business cards of your own design for free. I’ve only ever seen business cards by Moo once, and I wasn’t sure this was something I would use for my etsy store. I decided to try ordering the sample first, to see how I feel about them. My order consists of 8 different designs, with the business card being portrait style, rather than the traditional landscape. The finish of the cards are matte (I wish I got some with the glossy finish). I didn’t really have a solid idea of what I would want my hypothetical business cards to look like, so I just picked photos I’ve taken recently that I liked and used them as the design. I also kind of winged it for the writing on the back.

I’m not entirely happy with the little image on the bottom of the card back. I need to work on a cleaner looking logo for my etsy store. I have some rough sketches of what I might want as a logo, but nothing finalized.

I really like these cards! They’re super cute~. My mom actually took one to use as a bookmark.

In the future, I might include them in packages when I ship out orders. I would definitely recommend Moo cards if you’re in the market for nice business cards. I’m not sure how competitive their prices are, as I haven’t done the research, but in terms of the finished product – the cards are printed on stiff paper, and they feel luxe.

Giving Finley some charm

My first foray into customizing (not really, lol) – I charmed up Finley’s pull string! I decided to make my own pull charm, since I wasn’t having much luck finding a nice one at my nearby bead or craft stores. I wanted a white cat charm for Finley, a miniature sparrow (3d, and not a silhouette), a white maneki neko, or maybe an Adventure Time themed charm. I purchase some beads for the pull string, and I got working on crocheting a miniature amigurumi for the charm.

The pull string.

😀 😀 😀 The amigurumi cat came out a LOT bigger than I thought it would… I almost didn’t attach it to the pull string it is so big. It kind of looks like Finley has a pet for a pull charm… which actually is kind of cute.

I see on a bunch of other dolly blogs that doll owners will give their dolls a backstory or develop a unique personality for them. This is something that’s slowly coming together for me :D. On the same subject, I really enjoy this post on one of the blogs I follow, where the blogger introduces each one of her girls.

By the way, the outfit that Finley is wearing is all brand new! I just got one of my clothing orders in the mail today. The shoes, stockings, and sweatshirt is from Coolcat-coolcat’s Ebay store. Everything I bought was very affordable. Dolly mail is so much fun!

As of now, I’m waiting for 4 more packages – two of which contain more doll clothes (… I need them!).

Cadence Majorette has arrived!

Neo Blythe box

UGH. I was so excited when I saw this box! This will be my very first Blythe doll.

Mini review on the website/store that I purchased her from:

I ordered a Cadence Majorette doll from CC Toys a little over 3 weeks ago. They are based in Hong Kong and from researching on the internet, I felt comfortable enough ordering from their website. They accept paypal as a form of payment, and they shipped out my doll 2 days after I ordered it (I even received a tracking number). Cadence did take a bit longer than I thought to get to me, but I do blame the awful weather we’ve been having (snow for days) for the delay. I was actually a little worried that the doll got lost at sea or something, so I sent CC Toy’s an email asking them how long it usually takes for a doll to reach the U.S. The store’s customer service is very good 😀 – I received a response the very next day. The person who wrote me back was very helpful and nice. She (I think the person is a she) explained that they send their dolls via air mail, and that it generally takes 8 – 10 business days to ship from Hong Kong to the U.S. However, due to all the snow we’ve been having, it might take longer. Also, USPS needs to update their tracking info for international packages more often. I must have checked that sucker 5 times a day waiting for an update.

Moving onto the doll:

Her hair needs some serious cleaning/styling. … I don’t know how to do that, so I shall google it tomorrow 😀 (unless someone would share some tips with me ^^).

And here are some of the hats I crocheted for her during the 3 weeks I was waiting for her (they were a long 3 weeks) –

She’s so cute!! I love how super pale her hair is, and how well different colored clothing would look on her. I don’t have much of a wardrobe for her yet, but I’m going to try my hand at sewing soon. I’m a little worried about any fabrics (including her stock clothing, which she is currently wearing because she still has her plastic sleeve on) staining her body, so I will probably have to look into how to set dyes too (maybe I’m worrying too much). I can’t wait to take photos with her outside when it gets warm!

Weeeee. I’m already keeping tabs on new release info for any potential new members of my dolly family! I will most likely pass on Less Jeuenette (I dunno… maybe the actual doll will appeal more to me than the release drawing) and the 14th Anniversary doll (I don’t dig her concept). I am however SUPER keen on the My Melody Blythe that’s supposedly coming out in September of this year. I REALLY want a pink haired blythe, and I already have the most perfect name for one, 😀

And now that’s enough excitement for today.
