Out and about

I met up with my friend today in order to take advantage of the beautiful weather and also get some exercise (I wish knitting and crocheting burned more calories). My friend brought her new Momoko doll out while I redressed and brought out Reese, my Wendy Weekender.

I love taking walks with a doll, because the change in scenery compared to the photos I normally take at home is refreshing.

Momoko

My friend’s Momoko is also quite beautiful! Tanned dolls seem special to me because there doesn’t seem to be as many released by Asian doll companies, and there’s something quite striking about how the bold lip doesn’t distract from her face or starkly contrast to her skin tone.
Momoko looks pretty editorial next to Reese.

What Reese is wearing: Samedi Marche stock top, Kuloft suspender skirt, MINIJIJO socks, Les Jeunette stock shoes, knitted fox headband.

Normally I don’t like to do ANYTHING on Sunday – Sunday is my literal day of rest. I don’t do anything to mentally and physically prepare myself for work the next day. My plan for the remainder of the day is to laze about ^^.

Getting to know you~

Reese is wearing a dress from MINIJIJO and Licca chan shoes. She’s had a hair spa, and I tried to maintain the slight wave in her hair by putting in some curlers while her hair dried. Her and Marina look like very opposite twins! Like, sisters trying really hard not to look like each other at all (a chorus of “we’re our own people okay??!”).

Reese looks a bit like the odd one out on my shelf. She’s the only uncustomized girl I have, but I do feel that she rounds out the group by making the number of TBLS to real releases even. I really love her FBL face!

Mail Roll Call!

  • Faux fur wig from etsy for Marshall Lee (will probably take some weeks to get to me)
  • Washi tape from eBay
  • Cherie Babette (should arrive sometime in February hopefully)
  • Coolcat scalps (I think this is at the post office waiting for me to go pick them up)

Some dolly down time

I haven’t been feeling all too motivated to do doll related activities during this holiday season, so I kept it simple. I took some photos of my new Wendy Weekender, who I named Reese. As of today, she’s my only stock Blythe doll, so she’s looking a little out of place next to my customized girls. 23444461004_73c64def60_zI do one of these for each of my girls (though, I didn’t start doing this intentionally… it just kind of happened ^^).

I also added a single charm to Finley’s pull string. It’s a cameo from an old pair of clip-on earrings I had as a child. The cameo kind of sits on top of Finley’s new pull ring. I think it looks clean and refined… kind of like Finley’s new image since she’s gotten back from being customized!24046390386_d029c30e83_k

It’s weird because I kind of had her in my head as a tomboy adventurer (like Finn/Fionna from Adventure Time), but now she’s kind of gentle and ladylike. 24092133966_e7b9884f8c_zI redressed Finley, as I’m taking her out tomorrow :D. She is wearing Stella Savannah’s stock blouse, a MiniJijo tutu, Cadence Majorette stock shoes, off-white tights, and a pink shawl crocheted by me. She looks so good in pale colors!

One last thing! I think it’s safe to say that my stash-busting has been a huge success, largely thanks to the ripple blanket I made.IMG_5676.JPGThe one white line between the dark orange and the muted blue is where I officially ran out of worsted weight yarn . I had to go to Michaels and purchase two big skeins in order to finish the blanket. I’m really happy with how the blanket turned out. The pattern itself is really easy, and I felt the whole blanket-making went by pretty quickly. The blanket is now in the living room for anyone to use when feeling cold.

I now only have two skeins of worsted weight yarn (in cream and muted blue) and a dozen or so skeins of crochet thread and other thin yarns. 😀

Happy Holidays, Welcome back, and Welcome home!

I’m excited to share the newest addition to my dolly shelf, as well as hail the return of my first Blythe, Finley! First, the new girl:

I am the proud owner of a Wendy Weekender! She is an FBL mold, and had been on my wishlist for some time. I’m partial to the color of her hair, and I’m excited to add a new face mold to my collection. I purchased her on an adoption group on Facebook as NRFB, and received her within a week. That was about three weeks ago, so she’s been sitting in my sister’s room until Christmas. Why, you may ask? ^^ Because my sister is my secret Santa, and when I guessed she might be, she offered to pay for my new girl as my gift.

I noticed that she has a blemish on her cheek, which I’m going to chalk up as a factory imperfection. It doesn’t bother me too much, because it didn’t muck up her blush and is only slightly noticeable in photos. Also… She was a steal.

So far, I really adore the color of Wendy Weekender’s hair in person. Her FBL face also seems a smidge more cherubic than my other girls (it might be in my imagination though). I also like her super loud stock, because it makes me think of how you think a child might dress with no parental supervision.

This Button Arcade dress is my new girl’s “welcome to the fold” dress :D. 23957142225_82c3c822dc_kI’m thinking of naming her Reese. She definitely needs a hair spa.

Last but not least, Finley returned home right in time for Christmas! I left Finley with Chantilly Lace for customization while I was at Blythe Con Chicago, which was back in the middle of October. I was stoked when the mailman dropped Finley off earlier than expected, because the estimated delivery date was this Saturday.23931508316_53f2fc296e_kHer complexion is soooooo smooth and loooveeelyyyy.23957599875_d00afbd49e_kI put her in one of my Plastic Fashion dresses, and I think she looks super sweet. I’m so happy with how Finley turned out. The custom work is very clean, and Finley is so darn cute. I do feel like I have to get to know her again though, since she looks so drastically different now.FullSizeRender_14.jpgHere is my updated Blythe collection!23328893064_12d7c7cf69_kFrom left to right: Marina, Finley, Rory, Name TBA

XD Marina and Wendy Weekender look like sisters!

I hope everyone has an awesome holiday and weekend!
