Licca and Blythe proportions

Update (8/2/17):

A blythe doll foot (tbl body) in a pair of Licca flats.^ there’s quite a bit of gappage. The shoes don’t look terrible on blythe feet, but if you hold the doll, the shoes will sort of dangle off their feet.

Blythe feet (Wendy weekender) in Licca chan boots (from the Bijou series). It’s a good fit!

Quick post on blythe and licca (4th gen only) proportions.

Shoes that fit blythe:

  • Licca shoes are big on blythe feet
  • Some azone shoes fit, but they’re usually a bit big
  • Some Rement shoes fit (I have 2 pairs of maryjanes and 1 pair of rement boots that fit blythe feet)
  • Only Hearts Club shoes should fit (according to my research)
  • Some Barbie shoes fit (the non-heeled ones, because blythe feet aren’t arched)
  • Ely Chan (the Daiso licca knockoff) shoes will fit for the most part (some shoes might be too small)

A word on Blythe and Licca body proportions:

  • Licca chan’s body is more petite than a Blythe body.
  • I find that some Azone Pure Neemo XS clothes fit Licca chan very well.
  • Blythe clothes are oversized on Licca chan, which can be cute or awkward looking depending on what the item is.
  • Vintage skipper clothes will fit Blythe.
  • Some Barbie clothes will fit Blythe (some tops).
  • Ely chan fashion packs will fit Blythe.

A closeup of a Blythe foot (left) and a Licca foot (right). The Licca foot is considerably bigger.

From left to right: Licca stock sneakers, Blythe stock converses, Licca stock Mary Janes, and Blythe stock heel booties

The openings to the Licca shoes are bigger to accommodate the bigger, wider Licca feet. The Licca shoes that I own are also squished than blythe shoes. Honestly, the fit of a licca shoe on a licca foot isn’t exactly snug, but more of a loose fit.

I hope this was helpful!

Not quite as planned

I made it to a beach this weekend, and I even brought my newest blythe with me for photos… but I didn’t take any. I think maybe I don’t like the idea of Blythe dolls and the beach – maybe it’s the sand, the glaring sun, and the sea water, and how all of those things can potentially do some damage.

Instead, I took the time to redress three of my girls:

I put Pineapple Princess in her other stock outfit. Her hair is still a HUGE mess, so I put it into two chunky braids. I think she looks really cute! I still don’t know what to call her. The only thing that comes to mind is Piña Colada.

Marina and Reese also got an outfit change. Reese isn’t really season appropriate, so no photos of her, but Marina is looking particularly cute, so I wanted to share ^^.

Hopefully next weekend, I’ll take a girl out to the park for pictures. At this point, photo shoots or changing outfits feel a bit forced. I’m content with having all of my dolls just sit on the shelf and look pretty. I’m hoping that by pushing myself to tote a doll around, it’ll become something I want to do naturally.

I’m kind of sick of being in this doll hobby funk. It’s getting old.

No pressure

I’ve been passive in the blythe hobby as of late. The slump lasted pretty much a year – in part because of the cost of the hobby, the lack of a community in my immediate vicinity, all of the adjustments I’ve had to make because of the move, needing to juggle new responsibilities, which left me with little free time, and new interests.

My dolls have been sitting pretty on the shelf or in the socker greenhouse, unchanging, kind of just waiting patiently for me to pick them up again. All the while, I’ve developed some new interests >_< . This past year, I’ve been REALLY into otome games (seriously went through the looking glass into this whole new world of story telling via visual novel), journaling, and now Tarot cards and crystals.

I feel like I’m coming full circle though! Two major changes in my doll collection – Elowyn, my stock Cherie Babette, has moved on (sold), and I purchased and received Pineapple Princess! I let go of a translucent FBL and bought a translucent tan blythe (balance kind of restored?).

Fresh from the spa because her hair was a MESS. She’s glorious :3 . I don’t have any variety of skin tones in my doll collection, so PP is a welcome addition. She’s so summery. I’m excited to have her, and I can’t wait to try some outfits on her.

Surprisingly (for me), I haven’t added any new doll clothes to my collection. Good job, me.

Right now, I’m super into learning to read tarot cards, but I don’t see this competing with my interest in blythe. Reading tarot cards has been a very reflective activity, which I like to do in the park. I think next time, I’ll bring a blythe for a quick photo shoot when I go to the park to read.

My latest additions – The wild unknown deck and a small piece of bismuth (nature is so cool – though I’m pretty sure that this stone is man-made… SCIENCE is so cool).

I hope to revive my blogging, minus the pressure to blog a couple times a week. I find myself not having that much free time, let alone time for any hobbies. I’ve added an exercise routine to my life because of a recent health scare (a doctor told me that I might be Pre-diabetic and possibly have Hashimoto’s). I found out I’m fine, but you know what they say about an ounce of prevention.

That was June.

This is July.

I literally started exercising the day I got the scary news, and I kept going as best as I could. I think the last time I’ve been this diligent was in high school (many moons ago). I have to say, exercising is so time consuming.

I don’t enjoy exercising.

I hope I have more things to say soon. I still feel a bit disconnected from the blythe hobby. I know there is a blythe meet up group 1.5 hours away, but I feel pretty isolated.

One thing at a time

In the midst of a major slump. Maybe it’s the winter blues (winter blues apparently is more than just the state of the weather. My whole body is just in the season of winter, and I’m feeling restless and hibernate-y).

I’ve been away from blogging and pretty much all of my hobbies for longer than I would have liked. I guess I’ve just really not been in any sort of mood to do anything.

I have been… watching a crap ton of movies  and playing so much of the new Story of Seasons game (finished year 1).

I’ve had some exciting new additions to my doll family recently.

This is Xenon (also Zee, Zi, or Z) for short. She is a Project Doll House custom by Jannette ^^. She looks so different from Marina (a 2015 custom). I always think it’s pretty neat to see how a person’s artistic style changes through the years. I’ll have to take a side by side photo of Xenon and Marina soon.

Jannette also included a gift girl >_<. This pretty is a DIM Trisha (I think) on a modded Licca body. I super love her faceup! It’s so delicate, and she’s giving me major Snow White vibes with her rosy lips and cheeks (that signature style blush :3) and dark brows and lashes. I’ve ordered her a pair of eyes and a wig, and I had fun shopping for her too! I normally am not a fan of things that involve tiny pieces (sewing… model building… puzzles…), but I’m likely to just keep this girl in the same wig and eyes for forever ^^. Hopefully the ones I ordered will suit her.

Honestly… if this pink hair, purple eye combo works, I’m tempted to name her Potpourri after an older Harvest Moon character.

I do have one more addition to the family, but I will be saving that for another post. ^^

In a rut

Yep, I’m still in a rut. I haven’t really done anything with my dolls as of late, except maybe redress them with some new clothes I received recently. Which brings me to mail roll call:

  • Hi-Ho Marine custom by Jannette of Project Doll House
  • Jerry Berry I adopted from Jannette also
  • A Dim Doll head on a licca body from Jannette as a much-too-gracious gift

Side note: this box is going to be the most next level package ever.

Photos by Jannette herself. I love my hi-ho custom so much. I purchased the base doll on Dolly Adoptions with the intent to send her away to Jannette, and the big reveal happened a few weeks ago. MAGIC. It’s amazing how Jann’s style developed through doing face ups and customizing various dolls, and then translating that skill wonderfully on my new girl. I love how graphic and fun this girl looks with all of those pops of colors, and the cute bob she gave her.

I’m not sure what I’ll name her. I wanted a space themed name, because her whole look to me says out of this world. I was thinking maybe Luna, Cosmia, Orion… Spock maybe (though I’m not a fan of Star Trek). I don’t know yet. Maybe River?

It’s also wild to me that I adopted a Jerry Berry. And the DIM girl I can’t even process yet that she’ll be coming to live with me.

Onwards:

  • My Kickstarter order finally hit the shipping stage.
  • A stationary order of washi and art prints
  • Ronmiel outfit set
  • Remember Design 2 outfits

And … I think that’s it.

I guess being in a rut has not stopped me from shopping…

What fits my 2nd Gen Repro Licca chan?

This is Remy (short for Remington), my 2nd Generation Repro Licca Chan. The repros are more petite than the modern Liccas (which I believe are 4th gen). It’s a bit tough finding clothes and shoes that fit, since she’s an awkward size.

In the photo above, Remy is wearing an Azone Pure Neemo XS dress, which fits perfectly. She’s also wearing a Daiso Ely chan pair of shoes. I’ve also found that some blythe outfits will fit nicely (the ones that are super snug on a stock blythe body). Other than the things I mentioned above, I’ve had to knit my repro clothes. I think middie shoes might fit her tiny feet, but I haven’t had the chance to try them.

I’m kind of in love with all the sets by Sugarbabylove but i haven’t pulled the trigger yet (someday!).

Remy is hard to dress, but she’s still one of my favorite dolls. She looks so unique with her bean shaped head. She’s also super photogenic :3

Nothing but hauls

My sister gave me an etsy gift card for my birthday, which was both awesome and not so awesome. Awesome because I love Etsy and shopping for doll things. Not so awesome because oddly enough, most of the stores I love only accept paypal (boo).

I purchased the following on eBay and Etsy:

None of these photos are mine (taken from the sales listings). Clockwise from the upper left hand corner:

Very exciting.

I guess I like dressing my girls in tailored clothes or clothes that look like shrunken down human clothes (I have a hard time with shapeless or odd proportions).

I redressed a few of my dolls. I hope to redress the remainder of my girls tomorrow. I’m pretty happy with how Marina looks wearing white, with her hair in her signature braid (it even forks at the end like a tail!). I think if the weather is nice this weekend, I’ll take two of my dolls out. But it’s only Monday, so who knows how I’ll feel on Friday >_<.

Birthday blues

I’ve been suffering from the birthday blues for about two weeks. I recently hit one of those big birthdays, and I guess it’s a combination of feeling like time is passing too quickly and feeling like I haven’t done much with the time I’ved lived.

And instead of motivating me to get my life together, I’ve fallen back to old habits. I find when I’m bummed, I resort to rewatching shows from my childhood. In the depths of my depression four years ago, I marathoned all of Xena and Hercules (because I love crossovers, mythology, and campy goodness). Right now, I’m marathoning Dragonball (dubbed) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think it’s because while I remember the general storylines, I don’t remember most of the details. There’s an element of familiarity, but I’m still entertained.

I haven’t done much with my dolls or with yarn lately. It’s been raining a ton recently and my kitten pretty much can’t control herself around string, so no doll activities or crocheting/knitting. The only thing that has been up with me and my girls is that I’ve sold two dolls and I’m expecting two incoming girls ^^.

I’ve sold my obitsu/picco neemo hybrid – I just didn’t enjoy the tiny scale. I’m also in the process of selling Elowyn, my Cherie Babette – even after a year, I still wasn’t sure how I felt about her. I think it might be her coloring. She might look better with a different scalp, but since translucent faceplates are pretty fragile, i really didn’t want to risk causing cracks to the plates during the opening process.

As for incoming dolls, ^^ I’m expecting a new customized girl! I sent my Hi-Ho Marine away to Jannette of Project Dollhouse, and I think she’s coming back soon. I also am adopting Jann’s Jerryberry basic!! 😮 If I recall correctly, a jerryberry was on my New Years doll goals! … also I really wanted to treat myself for my birthday >_<.

Very wordy, I know.

This brings my current doll count to: 4 Liccas and 5 blythes (with a Jerry Berry and another Blythe on the way).

One more thing, I breathed new life into my custom Licca.

I cut her bangs a bit! I much prefer her with the shorter fringe. Her hair was cut oddly, where she had two long pieces (one on either side), that awkwardly covered her face. I decided to name her Wren – my Licca chan who loves wearing shades of brown.

Tomorrow also will be a non-hobby day. Maybe at the very least, I can redress my dolls.
